The best way to immerse yourself in Melbourne’s culture is to go where the cool kids go. And they go to Pearson and Murphy’s.
Set in the middle of RMIT University’s city campus, this café is the meeting and eating spot of choice for students and suits alike. Whether you’re there for a sit down lunch, a quick snack, or a coffee to go, there is always something delectable on offer.
As an RMIT student myself, I have pretty much ordered one of everything from their ready-made selection, and have never been disappointed. Their salads are always fresh and tasty, their baguettes generously filled, and their homemade pizzas laden with delicious toppings.
My rule: If there are lamingtons on offer, order one. Always. They are the best lamingtons I have ever eaten.
Once your food has arrived either sit inside and eavesdrop on all the juicy conversations around you, or if the sun is shining, join the hordes of students on the lawn wishfully soaking up the rare Melbourne rays.
